Yes. All American citizens need to apply online for an ETIAS visa waiver in order to travel to Portugal or other ETIAS countries. The ETIAS online application will be available to all US citizens as soon as it goes live in 2025. The US is a visa-exempt country and will no longer have to obtain travel authorization in order to enter the Schengen area. Visit our homepage for a complete listing.

It will be easy to complete the electronic ETIAS travel form application. All citizens of the US and all those who are exempt from visa requirements will need to submit an ETIAS online application before they can travel to Portugal or any other destination within the Schengen area from 2025. In most cases, the ETIAS application will take less than 10 minutes. The online form will require basic information such as background and travel history. The system will also ask for basic information about the applicant, background and travel history. ETIAS application form questions will then be compared against European security databases to ensure there are no errors or inaccurate information.

Yes. The ETIAS travel authorization program is set to become mandatory in 2025 for all American citizens traveling to Europe. ETIAS visa waivers will be required for all international travel within the ETIAS country. International travelers and border officials will have a grace period to get used to the new travel authorization process. This is in order to minimize disruptions.

To obtain an ETIAS visa waiver, applicants over 18 years old must pay a fee. The ETIAS system won’t require minors under the age of 18 to pay this fee. People over 70 years old will also not be charged the ETIAS fee. When you submit your electronic ETIAS request, you must pay the application fee online using a valid credit card or debit card. If the transaction does not go through, your ETIAS request will be put on hold.
